EPA-Funded Eco-Health project

In this short video, Prof. Mark Scott gives a synopsis of the EPA-Funded Eco-Health project. Project Abstract: This project advances the perspective that accessible and well-designed green spaces are essential infrastructure that is fundamental to the health and well-being of thriving and inclusive communities. There is a scientific consensus that green space provides multiple benefits for enhancing health and well-being, and these benefits provided by green space are increasingly recognised in policy at international, national and local levels.

EcoHealthNet

EcoHealthNet is an undergraduate and graduate-level global research coordination network, funded by the National Science Foundation, to bring together world-class research scientists from medical, ecology, veterinary, epidemiology, virology, anthropology, climate science, data science, and economics fields that will advance One Health research and education. Advancements will take place through three activities:

1) creation of a peer network of undergraduate and graduate STEM students from various disciplines via one-week workshops that teach applied skills and provide in-person contact time with scientists actively conducting research related to anthropogenic environmental change, economics, and emerging diseases, which will also be delivered live as an interactive webinar to university students globally;

Ecological Health Network

Building synergies to leverage the power of ecological restoration

We live in a world of possibilities. Ecological restoration projects exist worldwide in which people are doing heroic work to bring ecosystems back to health. But there is little connection among these sites. The Ecological Health Network is changing that. We work at the intersection of human health & well-being and ecological restoration, where there are answers to some of the most urgent crises of our time.

European Eco health International Chapter

Network For Eco health and One Health (Neoh) – European Chapter Of Eco health International

“We envision a world where people, animals and the environment are recognised as being interconnected; and transdisciplinary, systems thinking methods, and integrated approaches are universally practiced for understanding, maintaining and improving the health of all.”

Eco-Health: Ecosystem Benefits of Green Space for Health

Promotes physical activity through creating spaces for play, recreation, walking and cycling within a safe environment. Enhances mental well-being through creating urban refuges (from busy streets, traffic, noise) and providing a restorative environment through increased contact with nature.

Youth’s Perception Toward Ecotourism as A Possible Model for Sustainable Use Of Local Tourism Resources

The knowledge, perception, and behavior of young people toward ecotourism are important for the sustainable development of this sector. The purpose of this research is to evaluate and analyze the knowledge of young Romanian students about ecotourism and the main ecotourism destinations in Romania, their behavior in relation to the practice of this form of sustainable tourism at the local level in the last 2 years (2020 and 2021), and people’s use of the Internet for planning holidays and digital applications while traveling in nature.
